DENTON (UNT), Texas — Dr. Kinshuk, Professor and Dean of the College of Information (COI) at the University of North Texas (UNT), has been elected to serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors for the iSchools consortium. As the esteemed international network comprising over 120 university information schools worldwide, the iSchools organization is devoted to advancing the information field into the 21st century.
On November 10, 2023, UNT’s College of Information proudly recognized three outstanding alumni whose exceptional journeys and contributions have left an indelible mark on the fields of learning technologies, library science, and linguistics.

Last week, The University of North Texas held an awards ceremony to recognize milestone years of service for UNT faculty and staff. The College of Information celebrates the hard work of the following nine individuals:

Each semester, thousands of University of North Texas students earn their degrees and become UNT alumni. Every one of them should be tremendously proud of everything they've accomplished in their time in Denton.
In celebration of our Fall 2021 graduates, below are the highlights of a few of those freshly-minted alumni who overcame adversity and achieved great things on their way to becoming this semester's Great Grads.
Dr. Shobhana Chelliah to take fall sabbatical as she’s named a Fulbright-Nehru Fellow. The Fulbright-Nehru fellowship will require her full attention despite a brief delay in travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Chelliah currently serves at the Associate Dean of Research and Development, while being an active faculty member in the Linguistics department. This fellowship, considered highly competitive and only two are given each year.
The third-ever Pan Pacific Technology Enhance Language Learning (PPTELL) and Critical Thinking meeting connected people from across the globe on ZOOM for a conference originally scheduled for Denton, Texas.
Academic advisors in the College of Information also focus on the care of our students during matriculation. Tiffany Reynolds, an academic advisor in the college, recently led a session during a statewide conference hosted by the TEXAAN (Texas Academic Advising Network).
The College of Information celebrates Dr. Alexis Palmer of the Linguistics department on her CAREER award. Palmer is one of three researchers from the University of North Texas, who were awarded more than $1.5 million total in grant money through the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER).
