COI: What is your current major, degree plan, and professional concentration?

Shalini: I am an information science student with a concentration in health informatics.

COI: Why did you apply for this scholarship and what made you think you were a good match for it?

Shalini: My grades, studious nature passion towards studies made me to apply to the scholarship. In addition, the same qualities made to fetch this scholarship.

COI: What are some highlights of your time in the program so far? Do you want to shout out to any specific courses or professors who have helped you along the way?

Health Informatics plays a tremendous role in gaining vast knowledge in the field of health data. Besides, it is a booming field incorporation of various healthcare technologies. On the other hand, at this university my Prof. Dr. Sarah Ryan has always been a breath of fresh air. Her kindness made it all easier for me to want to study and I think her presence and gentle approach to encouraging me contributes to this achievement. Thank you, Professor.

COI: What are your career plans after graduation?

Shalini: My main goal is to become a health data analyst and improve patient documentation, deliver telehealth services, removing human bias for better outcomes and manage financial error and risk then ultimately providing patient safety. 

COI: Can you share any big successes you’ve had or obstacles you’ve overcome?

Although I have not yet achieved significant success, I have faced obstacles that have taught me vital lessons and developed my ability to persevere.

I am truly grateful and thankful for this scholarship support. The department’s contribution to my education is so wonderful and will allow me to continue to focus more on my studies. Thank you so much for your generosity.
