Hiranmayee P
Major:
M.S. Information Science with a concentration in Information Systems

COI: What is your current major, degree plan, and professional concentration?

Hiranmayee: My current major is Information Science with a concentration in Information Systems. I aspire to become a digital content manager.

COI: Why did you apply for this scholarship, and what made you think you were a good match for it?

Hiranmayee: I hail from 1000 miles apart for my studies here, leaving my family and friends behind. The scholarship acceptance made me realize that I am doing all this for a greater purpose, that everything that comes along is worth it, and that the struggle is real. It boosted my self-esteem and told me never to stop.

COI: What are some highlights of your time in the program so far? Do you want to shout out to any specific courses or professors who have helped you along the way?

Hiranmayee: So far, my core subjects - INFO 5000, INFO 5600, and INFO 5200 gave me a tough time, required immense patience, and demanded more hours from me, unlike other courses. However, I thoroughly enjoyed all the hardships, a big shout out to Dr. Xin Wang, Dr. Larry Enoch, Dr. Lauren Eutsler, and Dr. Jodi Philbrick for pushing me past my limits.

COI: What are your career plans after graduation?

Hiranmayee: I want to manage the online presence of a brand or a service by adhering to what I have learned so far. I am inclined to take up a library role as well.

COI: Can you share any big successes you’ve had or obstacles you’ve overcome?

Hiranmayee: Fitting in here was especially a task for me; apart from managing all the household chores, assignments are the biggest daily challenges. But hey, If I can do it, everybody else can.
