COI: What is your current major, degree plan, and professional concentration?
Apoorva: I am currently pursuing my master’s in information sciences with a concentration In Health Informatics
COI: Why did you apply for this scholarship and what made you think you were a good match for it?
Apoorva: I applied for the scholarship because of its commitment to supporting students pursuing their passions in environmental conservation. With a strong academic record in environmental studies and a demonstrated dedication to sustainability initiatives, I believed I was a perfect fit to contribute positively to this scholarship's mission.
COI: What are some highlights of your time in the program so far? Do you want to shout out to any specific courses or professors who have helped you along the way?
Apoorva: During my time in the program, I have been particularly fascinated by the in-depth knowledge gained in courses like "cyber security”. I am grateful for the invaluable guidance and support provided by Professors Tyson Mc Millan and Samuel Muwanguzi, whose expertise in the field has truly enriched my learning experience
COI: What are your career plans after graduation?
Apoorva: After graduation, my career plans involve leveraging my expertise in health informatics to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare industry. I aspire to work as a health informatics specialist or data analyst in a healthcare organization, where I can contribute to the improvement of patient care, streamlining of processes, and implementation of innovative technologies. Additionally, I am enthusiastic about exploring research opportunities that contribute to advancements in healthcare informatics and ultimately help shape more efficient and patient-centric healthcare systems.
COI: Can you share any big successes you’ve had or obstacles you’ve overcome?
Apoorva: While I haven't experienced significant successes yet, I have encountered obstacles that have taught me valuable lessons and strengthened my resilience. I remain determined to learn from these challenges and strive for success in the future.
