From the PI Handbook: The UNT Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews all proposed research projects involving human subjects to be conducted at UNT or to be conducted at any location by UNT faculty, staff, and students in connection with their institutional responsibilities. Operating under a Federal-wide Assurance (FWA) issued by the Office for Human Research Protections (part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), the UNT IRB’s primary mandate is to minimize the safety and privacy risks for human participants in research studies, while supporting UNT faculty, staff and students in the conduct of ethical research.
Visit the UNT IRB website for guidance.
Please be sure to renew your CITI training every 3 years before submitting an IRB
proposal.
CITI Research Ethics and Compliance Training
We have a step-by-step submission guide available on our website to walk you through the process of submitting a protocol.
If you have submitted proposals via Cayuse 424, no action is required; you will see the Cayuse IRB option listed when you log into using single sign on. If you have not submitted proposals via Cayuse 424 and you do not see the Cayuse IRB option, you will need to submit a request to gain access to the system under Step 1 at this link: https://research.unt.edu/research-services/research-integrity-and-compliance/human-subjects-irb/irb-protocol-submission. Please note, the turnaround time to gain access can take up to 72 hours.
Firefox is the preferred browser. Some components of the Cayuse site may not work properly on other browsers.
Cayuse IRB is a system used for electronically preparing, submitting, and routing studies for IRB approval. All information is stored in the cloud and can be accessed securely from any location, making it simple for multiple simultaneous users to view and share documents. Users receive electronic notifications whenever an action is required on their part, allowing the study to proceed through each step of the process from study creation to final approval.
Any and all communication (i.e. actions taken, review memos, approval letters) related to your protocols will be handled in the system. You will receive notifications from Cayuse to your email.
If you have questions or issues related to the content as you are submitting your protocol, please email us at untirb@unt.edu or call 940-565-4643.
If you have software or technical issues while completing your protocol in the system, please contact CayuseAccess@unt.edu.
