It is the responsibility of the student to stay abreast of progress toward the degree and to file an application for graduation, i.e. degree conferral using the MyUNT student portal.

For Undergraduate students: Run an online degree audit to make sure all degree components are showing as complete or In Progress. If a student needs to review their degree audit with an advisor, they can email: ci-advising@unt.edu with their 8-digit ID number.

For Graduate students: Information about graduation requirements and application dates is on TGS graduation information page. The applicant's grade point average on all graduate work attempted must be at least 3.0 for the graduation application to be accepted.

Commencement Participation: For bachelors and masters graduates only. Doctoral graduates should work with their department and TGS regarding any questions about commencement participation.

  • Spring and fall graduates should plan to participate in a commencement ceremony in their graduating semester. Summer graduates are expected to participate in the following fall commencement in December.
    • Summer graduates requesting to participate in commencement early (in Spring) will need to be 3 hours away from degree completion for masters students and 12 hours away from degree completion for bachelors students.
  • Previous and graduating students can request to participate in a commencement up to one year after their graduating semester. However, there is no guarantee that these requests will be approved. The student will be notified if their request has been approved or denied at least one week in advance of an upcoming commencement's RSVP deadline.
    • To request to participate in an upcoming commencement, complete this form.
