She was named one of “12 Brilliant Women in Artificial Intelligence & Ethics to Watch,” one of the “Top 100 Innovators in Data and Analytics,” and one of “10 Big Data Experts to Know.” She's a top advisor to Fortune 500 companies on responsible artificial intelligence and data innovation practices. She is also the CEO and founder of AI Truth, a non-profit organization dedicated to responsible creation and use of AI. Cortnie acquired her deep knowledge of AI when she led a Shark Tank-style AI solutions incubator as an executive at IBM. She traveled the globe working with IBM's Fortune 500 clients, their data science teams, AI researchers, and C-level executives. Prior to that, she created and led one of the world's largest Chief Data Officer communities for IBM and co-authored over 20 research reports on data and AI. She has delivered keynotes to audiences of up to 100,000 and has been covered by more than 20 online media outlets, including Forbes and Inc Magazine.
Veronica Broadway brings a rich background in data analytics and a strong commitment
to fostering educational and professional development. With a Bachelor of Science
in Computer Information Technology and a minor in Business Analytics from Brigham
Young University - Idaho, achieved with Summa Cum Laude honors, Veronica has dedicated
her career to advancing analytics across various sectors. Her analytics expertise
spans the chemical sector, supply chain management, sales and distribution, demand
planning, logistics, financial and procurement analysis, marketing analytics, and
diversity analytics in the legal field. Currently pursuing a Master's degree in University
of North Texas's nationally ranked Data Science program, she is deeply invested in
continually expanding her knowledge and skills.
Veronica's professional journey is complemented by a robust commitment to volunteerism,
where she applies her analytical skills to streamline operations for nonprofit organizations.
This dedication extends to her passion for special education advocacy, where she leverages
her expertise to assist families in navigating educational challenges, ensuring children
with special needs receive equitable access to education.
As the Chairperson of the Mentorship and Internship Committee at the UNT College of
Information, Veronica facilitates initiatives that equip students with the transferable
skills essential for success in the rapidly evolving job market. Her leadership not
only reflects her professional acumen but also her dedication to empowering the next
generation of data scientists and analysts.
Veronica is also an active member of the American Statistical Association, further
demonstrating her commitment to the field of data analytics. Her contributions to
the UNT Leadership Board are driven by a belief in the transformative power of information
technology and data science, underscored by a vision to inspire students to explore
innovative solutions to complex problems.
Aamer Charania is a senior executive leader with consistent success driving vision, strategy, and development of AI products in multiple industry domains including Retail, Financial Services, Healthcare, Technology, Telecom, and Airlines.
He is currently the Global Head of Applied Machine Learning at Best Buy, world’s largest consumer electronics retailer. His organization leads the way in leveraging the best of AI to power online customer experiences and optimize internal operations. Prior to Best Buy, Aamer was the Regional Head of Center for Machine Learning at Capital One, providing machine learning solutions across the company. Before Capital One, Aamer led the development of big data and machine learning products at Humana and Verizon. He started his career as a research assistant at MIT helping airlines implement machine learning algorithms.
Aamer enjoys giving back to the community. He is the President and Founder of Dallas AI, the largest nonprofit AI forum in North Texas, with over 6,000 members. Aamer is also a board member of the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Big Data Advisory, the governing body co-chair for Dallas Evanta Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO) community, an MIT Alumni Career Advisor, MIT Educational Counselor, and former President of the MIT Alumni Club of Dallas & Fort Worth.
Aamer has been awarded over 10 patents. He holds a Masters in Engineering from MIT, a Masters in Computer Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He lives in Flower Mound, TX with his wife, two daughters and a cat. In their free time, they love hiking and exploring nature.
Alaina joined the UNT COI Alumni society in 2011, as a member of the Outstanding Alumni committee, Learning Technologies Alumni President, followed by COI Alumni President. In 2015, Alaina was accepted to the doctoral program in the College of Information at UNT. Her research interests are: organizational theory to include organizational identity and change, leadership, learning, and complexity. She has been married for over 20 years and has four children. Alaina is a veteran of the United States Army, serving seven years on active duty and the Army Reserve.
Natalie has worked in the legal industry for over 20 years in both corporate and private law firm settings. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with a minor in Business from the University of Texas at Austin. She also received her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law and a Master of Information Sciences from the University of North Texas. As the Director of Knowledge Resources at a prominent AmLaw 200 law firm, she can combine her passion for the law with her expertise in technology. She leads a team of research attorneys that assist with navigating complex legal issues and providing valuable insight utilizing data analytics and legal informatics. Recognizing the transformative power of technology, the team also works to identify opportunities for innovation, leverages technology to drive positive outcomes, and implements solutions to improve efficiency and enhance client service. She has established herself as a trusted resource for legal professionals seeking to navigate the intersection of law and technology and continues to contribute to the advancement and evolution of the legal industry.
André Mendes was appointed Chief Information Officer for the Department of Commerce in August of 2019. There, he has overall responsibility and oversight of all technology systems at the United States Department of Commerce (DOC) and its associated Bureaus (FY2020 Budget $3.8B).
Prior to DOC, Mr. Mendes spent eight years at the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) in various executive roles including CEO, COO, CIO, CTO and CFO. During his time at USAGM, Mr. Mendes managed overall Agency transformation generating $360 million in savings from 2010 through 2018 through aggressive global technology and facilities optimization with projected 10-year savings in excess of half a billion dollars ($503M). In that timeframe, USAGM Global weekly audiences grew 78% (165-278M).
Mr. Mendes is a member of the CIO Hall of Fame (Class of 2021), a recipient of the 2011 Milton F. Clogg Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award from Montgomery College, the Chairman of the Capitol Technology University Board of Trustees and has receive multiple industry awards including an MIT award for IT Innovation, the 2023 Public Sector CIO of the Year by the Global Leadership Institute, the 2021 Top 150 Global Transformation Executives from Constellation Research, 2020, 2021 and 2022 FedScoop 50 Federal Leadership Awards, 2020, 2021 and 2022 50 Best Bosses In Federal IT, the 2005 Technology Leadership Award from Broadcasting and Cable Magazine and the Top 100 Hispanic Executives in IT Award every year between 2009 and 2019.
Mark Nance serves as a Vice President, Chief Data and Innovation Officer for American
Fidelity Corporation. As CDO, his focus is on grass roots data initiatives centered
on colleague engagement and actionable insight using data to fuel the journey and
ensuring that data is leveraged as an asset, while delivering both business value
and competitive advantage. He is responsible for a shared services organization providing
Data and Data Science deliverables, cloud infrastructure solutions and shared Data
Science, systems development services and Information security talent.
Mark has championed successful legacy data conversions and Data Governance implementations,
as well as Business Intelligence and Big Data initiatives. A native Oklahoman, Mark
holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a founding
member of the International Society of Chief Data Officers, a member of the Gartner
CDO Circle Program, a governing body chair of the Evanta CDO Inner Circle and the
Oklahoma State University MADM Advisory Board.

Spencer has over 30 years of experience leading sales and operations teams in North

Phanii is an industry-agnostic Global Digital, Product, and Data Analytics Leader
with in driving Digital Transformation, Commercialization, and end-to-end Data Management
with key focus areas such as Strategy, Data Analytics, Business Transformation, Product
Management, and Customer Success. He has a Master of Science in Computer Science from
New Jersey Institute of Technology and has an Executive MBA from Northwestern University's
Kellogg School of Management.
Phanii has extensive experience working for organizations across the US in different
industries. He is a strong believer in economies of scale, is outcome driven, and
is passionate about solving key business challenges by using Digital and Data technologies.
He has strong experience using Data Science to drive innovation and improving key
operational metrics and has experience standing up Data Governance programs across
various public and private sector organizations. Phanii has successful experience
in Productizing Data, AI, and other Digital products with the right Go-To-Market strategies
and achieving commercial value for Fortune 500 organizations. Over the years, Phanii
has transformed cultures and delivered digital and data solutions that can be leveraged
to deliver measurable outcomes to drive organizational goals.

Dr. Patrice Prusko is Director of Learning Design, Technology and Media within the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She leads the design, development and project management of online and technology enhanced courses. Dr. Prusko holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.), and Business Management (MBA) from Union College, and Curriculum and Instruction (Ph.D.) from University at Albany. She researches and presents on compassion fatigue, supporting women in STEM, equitable and inclusive design practices, and global education. She believes that by increasing access to education for women we can enable more communities across the globe to thrive and flourish. Dr. Prusko is currently president of the board of directors of WEST (Women in the Enterprise of Science and Technology).
As the Director of Competitive Intelligence for Haynes and Boone, LLP, an AmLaw 100
firm, Emily leads CI, CRM, Library, and Technology teams in developing information
to support client service, firm strategy, competitor and market analysis, lateral
recruitment, client service initiatives, and new business development. Our team is
responsible for the creation, deployment, and administration of new technologies and
resources to provide legal information and market, client and competitor intelligence.

Seemit is an accomplished data science leader in financial services with passion to
create data science products that transform the business and mentoring. Currently,
he is a member of the executive management group and head of the modeling and machine
learning organization at USAA. Prior to USAA, Seemit was at Capital One for 19 years
where he held various data science leadership roles and played a key role in successfully
driving machine learning transformation for Capital One. Seemit is one of the pioneers
in adoption of experimental designs to financial services and has done many innovations
in that area to enable that. Over the career spanning 20+ years, Seemit has developed
world-class organizations and mentored large number of leaders who are collectively
elevating data science culture in financial services and beyond.
Seemit has a master's degree in mathematics from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)
Mumbai, and a master's and PhD (ABD) in statistics from ODU, Virginia. Some of Seemit's
other interests include tennis and Indian classical drum called tabla.
Vikas is an accomplished Senior Technology Executive and a proven Business Leader,

critical business needs. He has demonstrated strong ability to foster participation,
cooperation and collaboration to create high performing agile environment. Vikas is

Vikas has experience of over 25 years at large multinational companies like Broadcom,
CA Technologies, IBM, and SPSS. He has led various business areas during his career,
ranging from software engineering and architecture, product/offering management, M&A,
and most recently at Broadcom, as the Vice President of Global Customer Experience
and Strategic Alliances, he is responsible for all the field facing teams, including
education, technical support, professional services, business/sales specialists, and
strategic partnerships, in the mainframe software business.
Vikas hold a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (B.Tech.) from Sri Venkateswara
University, a Master's Degree in Structural/Ocean Engineering (M.S.) from Florida
Atlantic University, a Master's Degree in Predictive Analytics (Data Science) from
Northwestern University, and a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Information Science (Data
Science) from University of North Texas. He also has received executive management
education from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
James (Jim) Spence received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Texas Tech
University. He completed a Master's degree in Information Science in 2011 from the
University of North Texas (UNT) with a certification in Medical Informatics. He graduated
from the UNT Interdisciplinary Information Science PhD program with concentrations
in Information Theory and Design and Information Behavior in May of 2018.
In terms of work experience, Jim worked at the University of Texas, School of Dentistry
in Houston for 8-years and served as the technical project leader for the institution's
Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation. He came to University of Texas, MD
Anderson Cancer Center approximately 10 years ago. He currently serves as Manager
of Quality Improvement and Analytics within the Division of Pharmacy.
The Pharmacy Analytics team at MD Anderson provides data and analytic services used
to maintain and support medical research and the institution's medication use process.
Specifically, the team supports research protocols, medication formulary management,
medication procurement, patient treatment regimens, medication-related Clinical Decision
Support (CDS), coding, and billing. The Pharmacy Analytics team also serves as Subject
Matter Experts (SMEs) for the Epic data repository known as Clarity particularly for
the Pharmacy subject areas and data models. The team also serves as SMEs for the institution's
Federated Institutional Reporting Environment.
Roosevelt Weeks is the Director of the Austin Public Library where he leads a dynamic
team and library system. His responsibility includes 20 branch locations, the History
Center and a new Central Library. Weeks joined the Austin Public Library team in September
of 2017. Prior to joining the Austin Public Library, Weeks was the Deputy Director
and Chief of Staff at the Houston Public Library. Weeks is passionate about improving
technology, literacy and education, both inside and outside of the library. He also
works directly with community leaders to agree upon shared values, vision, and measures
of success. This furthers the combined goal of ensuring a future workforce capable
of the complex critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing competitive
environment.
In addition, Weeks is a member and serves on several committees within the American
Library Association (ALA), Public Library Association (PLA), Texas Library Association
(TLA), and Urban Library Council (ULC). He also is a member and participates within
National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) and Society for Human Resource
Management (SHRM). Weeks received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science
from Texas Southern University and his Master of Library Science degree from the University
of North Texas. In his spare time, Weeks enjoys spending time with family, serving
in his church and helping the community.

His recent book - Practical AI for Business Leaders, Product Managers, and Entrepreneurs - will be published by DeGruyter Press in March 2022.
Ann Blackman is a MS 2011 Computer Education & Cognitive System graduate, College of Information Department of Learning Technologies. She has also completed UNT's Graduate Academic Certificate of Community College Leadership. She is the Director of eLearning Centers for Collin College, McKinney TX. In addition, she is an adjunct for the Education department.
Amy Greene earned a PhD in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas, an M.A. in Organizational Communication from Western Michigan University, and B.A. degrees in Human Resources Management and Communication from Michigan State University. Amy started her career in academia as Assistant Professor of Speech Communication at Darton State College (Albany, GA) in 2005 and then Professor of Communication Studies at Collin College (McKinney, TX) in 2008. While at Collin College, Amy was promoted to Chair of Communication and Humanities in 2013 and again in 2016 to Associate Dean. During this time, she was also an adjunct professor for undergraduate communication courses at the University of Texas at Dallas and for graduate courses in the Learning Technologies Department at the University of North Texas. In 2017, Amy became the Executive Director for Online Learning at Ferris State University (Big Rapids, MI). While at Ferris, she led a team of instructional technologists and designers that provided support for the university's distance learning initiatives, was elected to the Academic Leadership Council, and was a member of the Strategic Plan Action Committee. In 2021, Amy decided to pursue a brand new career path when she accepted the position of Learning & Development Manager at MSU Federal Credit Union (Lansing, MI). She is a DDI (Development Dimensions International) Certified facilitator and a Gallup CliftonStrengths Coach. In her spare time, Amy loves road trips with her husband and dogs.
Jose Antonio Murillo leads since 2021 RappiCard Mexico. As a joint venture between the Mexican bank Banorte and Rappi, the leading delivery platform in Latin America, RappiCard is unlocking the potential of big data and technology to expand credit and transform the financial landscape of the region. Previously he established and led the Analytics Business Group at Banorte. His group was recognized as a success story within the data and analytics industry. The value created with analytics during his tenure exceeded 4 billion USD. This case was published at Harvard Business Review and Forbes as an example of a company which made its analytics investments pay-off. In addition, the Harvard Business School has written and taught a case study on Jose's analytics and digital transformation leadership. He obtained the Lafferty Global Award on Credit Card Excellence for the impact of analytics on customer equity and the artificial intelligence applications that he has developed have been highly commended by the Global AIconics Awards. Jose has been named repeatedly among the top global analytics and data professionals by Corinium. He has been published in several industry and refereed journals, he is an international speaker at data science and artificial intelligence forums. Jose is a member of Queen's University Advisory Board for the Master's in Management Analytics, MIT CDOIQ Mexico's Ambassador, a member of the Business Data Global Advisory Board and also serves as a member of University of North Texas College of Information Leadership Board. Prior to Banorte, Jose was a top ranking official at Mexico's Central Bank and participated for more than a decade at the Monetary Policy Committee holding the staff's view on inflation -the key variable for policy decision- and regional economies.
Jenny earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Learning Technologies at UNT in 2016. With more than twenty years of experience in higher education, Jenny has contributed to students' success at Community Colleges as well as four-year institutions. Recently, she led Program Coordinators and faculty in the development of the Lees-McRae College Teaching Framework. Jenny's research focuses on equitable course design and the exciting opportunities ahead as we design and develop certificates, courses, and programs that support diverse students.
