• One-on-one advising meetings are reserved for those admitted to a COI degree program.

Are available for bachelor's and master's students in COI, every Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. via Zoom. 

 

Drop-ins will be also be available daily (on weekdays) the week prior and the first week of the Fall 2026 semester. (*The focus of these drop-in sessions will only be to finalize a fall 2026 schedule).

 

For the weekly Wednesday drop-in advising sessions can help with quick questions about:

• General information on your degree plan
• Dropping a course (Check the academic calendar for the last day to drop.)
• Confirmation of courses you have planned for the next semester
• Changing your major or adding a minor
• Change a class to Pass/No-Pass
  • Courses in the core, your major, or minor cannot be changed to Pass/No-Pass and this applies to bachelor's seeking students only.

Creating a full degree plan will not be covered in a drop-in conversation. You will need to schedule an appointment to plan for more than two semesters.

TIPS FOR DROP-IN ADVISING

1. Have your student ID number ready.
2. Know what questions you need answered.
3. Have an idea of what courses you want to take. Search the Class Schedule in the MyUNT portal and review your degree requirements in advance.
4. Drop-in advising appointments are meant to be quick, goal-oriented sessions - usually taking 10-15 minutes. Please be ready for a quick conversation.
5. If you join drop-in advising and have an appointment scheduled that you no longer need, please cancel that future appointment to allow other students an opportunity to schedule during that time.

Advisors will have a virtual general interest session called  "Ask an Advisor" the 2nd Thursday of the month from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. (Central Standard Time).

These sessions will cover the requirements and application process for the bachelor's,  master's, and graduate certificate programs in the College of Information.
