Camp Information

- Rising 9th-12th Graders
This camp will provide students with an introduction to the field of computational linguistics regardless of their technical background. Each day will focus on a topic in the field of computational linguistics, including the first day, which will focus on learning to code in Python. Other topics will include natural language processing, machine learning, neural networks, and how these concepts relate to the study of language.
No prior knowledge of coding is needed.
Registration
Early Bird Registration: $400.00 (Ends May 11, 2026)
Regular Registration: $425.00
All steps must be fully completed in order for the campers spot to be confirmed.
1.) Complete registration form.
Once you have completed the registration form, you will be added to a waitlist.
Due to a high-volume of interest in these camps, all registrants are added to the waitlist no matter what order they register in.
2.) Pay Registration Fee
Within 2 business days of completing registration, the camper will receive a payment link via email to pay the camp registration fee.
You will have 48 hours to make the payment. After the 48 hours is up, the payment link will expire, and you will be added back to the waitlist queue.
Summer Camp Guidelines
We are SO thrilled to be hosting the UNT Summer Camp 2026!
Registered participants and parents/guardians—please save these guidelines for your
reference. It contains important information (Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How)
to ensure a smooth and successful camp experience.
About Our Camps
All UNT College of Information Summer Camps are a week-long, day camp experience designed
to introduce students to technology, information science, and emerging fields like
AI in a fun, engaging environment.
Camp sessions are led by trained UNT college student instructors and counselors, who
are supported by university personnel to ensure a safe and enriching experience.
- 8:00 AM – Check-in begins
- 9:00 AM – In Class
- 12:00 PM – Lunch break
- 12:45 PM – Leisure time
- 1:45 PM – In Class
- 3:30 PM – Dismissal
Certificate Ceremony
On the final day of camp, we will celebrate all campers who have completed the camp.
Date: Every Friday (Last Day of Camp)
Time: 2:45 PM – 3:30 PM
Location: Frisco Landing Campus
Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion, presented by camp instructors
and university personnel.
Parents and family members are warmly invited to attend!
First Day Check-In Details
Location: Front entrance of UNT Frisco Landing
1.) A legal parent or guardian MUST be present for check-in on the first day.
2.) Be prepared to show some form of ID with the legal name of the camp participant.
3.) We will verify that we have your completed registration forms and that the registration
fee has been paid before checking the camper in.
4.) We will also verify pickup persons and review pickup procedures. Self-Drivers: Campers driving themselves must notify staff at check-in to receive a parking pass.
5.) Each camper will receive a name tag that must be worn each day of camp.
6.) Parents may temporarily park in FS Lot #2 (max 15 minutes).
7.) Please escort your camper in and return promptly to your vehicle.
General Check-In Details
- Check-in begins at 8:00 AM each day.
- Campers should check in with staff and pick up their nametag before heading to the classroom.
- Parent/Guardian only needs to be present for check-in on the first day of camp.
- Campers should be settled in the classroom with their nametag before 9:00 AM each day.
- Late arrivals are allowed but may miss important instruction.
- Camp ends at 3:30 PM
- Campers will turn in their nametag with camp staff before they leave the building.
- All campers must be picked up by 4:00 PM.
- Pick-up occurs in the front circle drive.
- Please follow traffic flow direction.
- Only approved individuals on the campers pickup list will be permitted to pick up.
- To update pick-up permissions, a parent or guardian must notify the camp coordinator at the start of the day.
- Do not leave your vehicle during pickup unless you are parked in a designated parking space.
- Vehicles cannot be left unattended in the circle drive for more than 5 minutes.
- Lunch (Monday–Thursday)
- Refillable water bottle
- Notebook (optional)
- Any required medications (must be disclosed at check-in)
- Lunch is NOT provided except on the final day of camp.
- Campers should bring their own lunch daily.
- Refrigeration and microwaves are available (request at check-in)
- Limited vending machines are available, but not guaranteed
- A pizza lunch will be provided on the final day of camp.
- Computers - Camp devices must be used for instructional purposes only.

Each day, campers may choose from supervised activities such as:
- Outdoor Nature Walk
- UNT Spirit Bracelet Making
- Quiet Time (reading, journaling, etc.)
- Indoor Board Games (Uno, Monopoly, etc.)
- Yard Games (Jenga, Spikeball, Kan Jam, etc.)
- Notify staff at check-in of any medications that will need to be administered during the duration of camp.
- A Medical Authorization Form must be completed for these medications.
- Emergency medications (e.g., inhalers, EpiPens) must be disclosed on the form.
- All camp staff and students wear easily identifiable name tags.
- Camps are led by trained UNT student instructors.
- All camp instructors and counselors are trained in safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Designated Emergency Contact(s) will be the FIRST line of contact in the event of
an emergency.
Parent/Guardians will be contacted after emergency services and contacts have been notified and any emergency measures are underway.
The University of North Texas (UNT) College of Information is committed to providing
a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all summer camp participants. To ensure
a positive experience for everyone, all campers are expected to follow the behavior
guidelines outlined below. These camps are led by trained college student instructors
and counselors who are dedicated to supporting student learning and well-being.
Expectations for Participant Behavior
All camp participants are expected to:
- Show Respect - Treat fellow participants, instructors, and counselors with kindness, respect, and courtesy at all times.
- Follow Instructions - Listen attentively and follow directions provided by camp instructors and counselors.
- Engage Appropriately - Participate in activities in a safe, constructive, and cooperative manner.
- Use Appropriate Language and Conduct - Refrain from using inappropriate language, gestures, or behavior that could be disruptive, harmful, or offensive to others.
- Respect Property and Facilities - Use all equipment, materials, and campus spaces responsibly and as directed.
- Maintain Personal Responsibility - Stay within designated areas, arrive on time, and remain with the group unless given permission by staff.
- Regular attendance is expected for the full experience.
- Please notify staff if your child will be absent or late.
Prohibited Behavior
The following behaviors are not permitted and may result in disciplinary action:
- Bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
- Physical aggression or threatening behavior
- Disruptive actions that interfere with camp activities or instruction, including usage of personal devices.
- Damage to university property or the property of others
- Possession of prohibited items or engaging in unsafe activities
- Refusal to comply with instructions from camp staff
Disciplinary Process
Our goal is to support positive behavior while maintaining a safe environment. The
following steps may be taken if a participant does not meet behavioral expectations:
- Verbal Warning – Participant is reminded of expectations and given an opportunity to correct behavior.
- Parent/Guardian Notification – If behavior continues, parents/guardians may be contacted to discuss concerns.
- Temporary Removal from Activity – Participant may be removed from a specific activity or group setting.
- Dismissal from Camp – In cases of serious or repeated misconduct, the participant may be dismissed from the camp without a refund.
UNT reserves the right to determine appropriate disciplinary action based on the severity
of the behavior.
Acknowledgment
By enrolling in the UNT College of Information Summer Camp, participants and their
parents/guardians acknowledge and agree to abide by this behavior policy.
UNT is not responsible for lost items.

Full Refund Eligibility:
A full refund may be issued for the following reasons:
- Scheduling conflicts or personal circumstances if requested before May 22nd at 11:59 AM.
Partial Refund Eligibility:
A 75% partial refund may be issued for the following reasons:
- Scheduling conflicts or personal circumstances if requested between May 22nd-June 5th at 11:59 AM.
Non-Refundable Circumstances:
Refunds will not be issued for:
- Scheduling conflicts or personal circumstances requested June 5th or after.
- Failure to attend the event (no shows).
- Weather conditions, unless the event is officially canceled or significantly distrupted.
- Changes to event programming, speakers, or venue details that do not result in cancellation or major disruption.
Emergency Circumstances:
In the event of an emergency (including but not limited to severe weather, safety threats, venue issues, or other unforeseen circumstances) that interrupts or halts the event, the University reserves the right to determine refund eligibility on a case-by-case basis. Ticket Transfers:
Tickets may be transferred to another attendee if you are unable to attend. Please contact us at CI-Events@unt.edu before June 5th at 11:59 AM to request your ticket transfer. All other registration documents MUST be completed by the new attendee to complete the transfer.
