Our Mission

Group of students in a classroom.The Health Informatics Empowerment and Adaptation Lab (HEAL) at the University of North Texas is dedicated to advancing innovation in health informatics through cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and impactful applications.

HEAL focuses on health data quality enhancement, medical concept normalization, trustworthy and equitable AI systems, and large-scale health informatics platforms to improve decision-making, enhance patient outcomes, and promote health equity.

Research Areas
Our work includes health data quality, concept normalization, dental informatics, digital health, trustworthy AI, mental health, medical imaging, and disaster informatics.
