COI: What is your current major, degree plan, and professional concentration?
Venkata: I am doing my master's in information science with a significant concentration
in health informatics and going into the third semester.
COI: Why did you apply for this scholarship and what made you think you were a good
match for it?
Venkata: I believed that I was qualified for the Herman L. Totten Endowed Scholarship
because I have been an outstanding student in the two semesters with all A grades
in the subjects; this made me apply for the scholarship, mainly for the students from
information science.
COI: What are some highlights of your time in the program so far? Do you want to shout
out to any specific courses or professors who have helped you along the way?
Venkata: The main highlights of the program so far are learning the essential management
during a disaster, the importance of library services in society, and how technology
plays a significant role in the medical profession. I thank Dr. Elise Victor, Dr.
Craig Drayden, and Dr. Ana Cleveland. They helped to learn important aspects of the
field during the two semesters.
COI: What are your career plans after graduation?
Venkata: After graduation, I want to see myself as Clinical Data Manager and Analytics
Analyst.
COI: Can you share any big successes you've had or obstacles you've overcome?
Venkata: The main obstacle I have faced is programming languages. I am from the medical
field; this master's plan helped me to learn those languages and overcome obstacles.
