Keely S.
Major:
M.S. Library Science with an Advanced Management Libraries and Information Agencies Graduate Academic Certificate

COI: What is your current major, degree plan, and professional concentration?

Keely: Library and Information Science Master w/ an Advanced Management Libraries and Information Agencies Graduate Academic Certificate

COI: Why did you apply for this scholarship and what made you think you were a good match for it?

Keely: After spending some time in the Department of Information Science, I have enjoyed getting to know the professors and my fellow students. I have dedicated a great deal of time to my studies, grown in my passion for this field, and felt that I may be a good match because I want to continue this growth.

COI: What are some highlights of your time in the program so far? Do you want to shout out to any specific courses or professors who have helped you along the way?

Keely: I took one fast and furious course (INFO 5415) over the course of winter break 2022. This graphic novel course felt particularly meaningful because it was so fast-paced that we all championed through it together, encouraged one another, and learned so much along the way. Dr. Evans was very passionate and insightful; so that certainly helped!

COI: What are your career plans after graduation?

Keely: I would like to use the knowledge I've gained at UNT to continue my career with my current public library system where I enjoy serving the community in the adult services department.

COI: Can you share any big successes you've had or obstacles you've overcome?

Keely: Completing my IOP for INFO 5200 was particularly satisfying! I was not sure I would ever understand that material, but eventually it just "clicked"!
