What is PERFECT?

PERFECT stands for Promoting Effective Resources for Cybersecurity Education and Training. It is a collaborative educational research initiative focused on improving cybersecurity awareness and digital safety among high school students and teachers.

Who Are We?

We are a team of researchers, educators, and graduate assistants from the University of North Texas (UNT) and West Texas A&M University (WTAMU), supported by expert contributors in cybersecurity, digital learning, and pedagogy. Our work is grounded in evidence-based practices and guided by national frameworks, such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

What Do We Do?

We design and deliver a structured cybersecurity curriculum made up of three modules—Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced—each with interactive content tailored to high school learners. Our resources include training materials, surveys, and assessment tools that help measure and improve digital safety awareness in classrooms.

Through this project, we aim to:

  • Empower students and teachers to understand and practice cybersecurity

  • Create accessible, research-informed learning materials

  • Analyze learning outcomes to improve future resources

  • Disseminate findings through open-access publications and educational platforms

Why It Matters?

As digital threats continue to grow, early cybersecurity education is more important than ever. The PERFECT Project helps schools prepare the next generation with the skills and mindset to stay safe and informed in the digital world.

What to Expect?

  • We will cover CANVAS® and how you can utilize it for your class.
  • We will cover the Basic cybersecurity topics.
  • You will have the opportunity to meet new colleagues.
  • You will receive $400 in compensation for participating.
