This project is a collaboration between DVXR Lab (Data Visualization and Extreme Reality) and CAAAM (Center for Agile and Adaptive Additive Manufacturing) at the University of North Texas (UNT). The focus of the initiative is the development of digital twin for various components, including 3D printers, the building structure of the CAAAM center, and the metal printers housed within the center.

A digital twin refers to a virtual representation of a physical object or system which is updated in real-time using data from sensors and other sources to replicate the performance and condition of the physical model. This project involves the continuous extraction and integration of data from physical models into its virtual counterparts. This can be used for real-time visualization, analysis, and monitoring. The primary objective is to optimize processes, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to overall efficiency of the system.

By creating and utilizing digital twins, the project aims to bridge the gap between physical and virtual environments. This project can lay a foundation to innovative approaches in which physical devices or model interact with their virtual counterparts.
