What is CHILL?
CHILL (Computational Humanities and Innovative Literacies Lab) investigates how artificial intelligence reshapes information behavior, education, and professional practice, with a focus on AI ethics, explainable AI, and AI literacy development. Bridging computational methods with humanistic inquiry, the Lab produces research and curricula that help learners, educators, and institutions engage with emerging technologies responsibly and effectively. Interdisciplinarity is central to our mission. Interested collaborators are encouraged to contact the Lab's director.

What is Computational Humanities?
Computational humanities is an interdisciplinary field that uses computational methods and tools to explore, analyze, and interpret human culture, history, literature, and other aspects of the humanities. It blends traditional humanities disciplines (like history, literature, philosophy, art, and cultural studies) with computer science, data analysis, and digital technologies.
What are Innovative Literacies?
Innovative literacies encompass the evolving skills needed to critically engage with emerging technologies — including AI literacy, digital literacy, and information literacy. This includes the ability to recognize when information or technology is being used appropriately, to evaluate AI-generated content critically, and to apply these tools effectively and ethically in education, research, and professional practice.
