The Computational Humanities and Innovative Literacies Lab hosts two annual summer camps for grade 6-12 students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area through the University of North Texas. These camps prepare future professionals to work collaboratively with digital tools to produce creative works - including the development and promotion of web-based services and products.
Digital Creators Institute
The Digital Creators Institute is an immersive summer camp designed for students who are eager to explore the interaction of people, information, and technology. At this dynamic camp, participants will learn how to harness the power of AI and large language models to create compelling digital content. They will gain hands-on experience in website planning and design, digital art techniques, and video production, all while developing essential skills in digital literacy and responsible technology use. Whether your passion is storytelling, coding, or creating stunning visuals, the Digital Creators Institute will equip you with the knowledge and tools to become a forward-thinking digital creator.
Working with AI Camp
A hands-on summer camp for students interested in exploring ways in which artificial intelligence technologies can be used to boost our creativity, help us organize our work, and solve major problems in our world. Through interactive projects and experimentation, students will discover how AI can be a powerful tool for productivity, learning, and creative expression throughout their lives. Major outcomes for the camp include developing the ability to: Use AI tools effectively and ethically to research, summarize, and brainstorm ideas; Enhance creativity by generating art, music, and multimedia projects with AI assistance; Organize and analyze information using AI to support planning and problem-solving; and Evaluate AI outputs and processes critically in order to understand both the capabilities and limitations of current tools.
