Discovery Series Presents:
Yoav Horesh
Associate Professor of Photography, New England College
Topic: Sense of Place
Looking back and welcoming the future, my work has largely revolved around history, memory, identity, conflict, recovery and our relationship as people to these topics. The potential of photography to reveal and obscure, to interpret the world and our concerns, has taken me to places near and far.
In my talk, I will discuss the connection between my projects from the American South-West, Germany, Laos, Israel, the Gaza Strip, Bolivia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Cambodia, and New Hampshire; places where history still shapes and influences current events and daily life. Amongst such diverse places I have discovered common issues, interests, and experiences—a shared sense of place and time, regardless of the visual landscape.
